Nestled in the heart of Chicago's Uptown neighborhood, Heiwa Terrace has been providing affordable housing for seniors and people with disabilities since 1978.
Heiwa Terrace was originally developed by the Japanese American Service Committee Housing Corporation (JASCHC) to assist aging Japanese Americans and their families who had relocated to the Midwest from the internment camps in the 40’s. In 2022, Heiwa Terrace underwent a massive renovation, modernizing its 204 residential units (all one-bedroom) and upgrading all the common areas to better serve seniors and people with disabilities of all ethnicities in the years to come. We provide culturally competent programs designed to meet the physical, social and psychological needs of our residents. All applicants must meet specific income qualifications pursuant to HUD regulations.
